Peshawar (The COW News Digital) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has pledged closer cooperation with the federal government, saying the province will move forward with the centre and work alongside other provinces to address key administrative and development challenges.
Faisal Karim Kundi said there would be no further differences with the federal government and that all provinces would work together as one unit. He stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation to improve governance and accelerate development across the province.
Speaking about civic improvements, the governor said the provincial authorities had resolved to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa clean and well-maintained. He said a campaign against encroachments and for improved cleanliness had begun in Peshawar, adding that no recommendations or personal influence would be accepted during the operation.
The governor also announced an inquiry into the disappearance of wheat supplies allocated to the province. He said officials would investigate how the wheat had gone missing and that the facts would be brought to light. According to Kundi, a report on the matter would be issued soon.
On development projects, Kundi said the focus would be on schemes that deliver practical benefits to the public. He alleged that multiple departments had previously prepared bills for the same development work and pledged to prevent misuse of public funds.
He said projects that did not serve a clear public purpose would not be pursued, adding that the government would take steps to ensure development funds were spent transparently and effectively.
The governor also highlighted plans to improve traffic management. He said a meeting had been convened to review traffic regulations and develop measures to improve the flow of vehicles. According to Kundi, cameras would be used to strengthen monitoring and enforcement, while changes to traffic rules were expected to address complaints regarding fines.
Addressing the growing problem of electricity load-shedding, Kundi said he would meet officials of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to discuss the issue. He also called for an end to electricity theft, stressing that consumers would be expected to pay their bills.
Kundi said electricity and gas-related issues would be taken up with the relevant authorities, expressing hope that the problems could be resolved through discussions and coordination rather than continued disputes between the provincial and federal governments.
He emphasised that cooperation with the centre and other provinces would be a priority, signalling a willingness to pursue a more coordinated approach to governance and public service delivery.
The governor’s statements cover several key areas, including urban cleanliness, anti-encroachment operations, wheat supply investigations, development spending, traffic management and energy shortages.
Whether these commitments translate into lasting improvements will depend on implementation, institutional coordination and the outcomes of the announced inquiries and administrative measures.
