PTI Changes Long March Plan, Announces New Schedule

Peshawar (The COW News Digital)  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has revised its plan for the ongoing long march and announced a new schedule for the next phase of the political campaign, according to the party’s provincial leadership.

PTI General Secretary Ali Asghar Khan said Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would lead the long march in each district as the caravan moves through the province.

According to the new schedule, the convoy from Khyber district is expected to reach Peshawar on Thursday night. The march will then move towards other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the coming days.

Ali Asghar Khan said the long march would reach Charsadda on October 9, Mardan on October 10 and Swabi on October 11.

The PTI leadership is expected to decide the next phase of the march after the convoy reaches Swabi. Party officials have not yet provided details of the route or timing beyond the Swabi stop.

The revised schedule comes as the PTI continues its political mobilisation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid heightened tensions between the opposition party and the federal government.

The party has been organising caravans from different parts of the province as part of its campaign, with supporters travelling towards designated gathering points.

The decision to have the chief minister lead the march in each district is expected to give the campaign a more prominent provincial political presence. PTI leaders have continued to emphasise the importance of maintaining participation across the province as the march progresses.

The announcement also indicates that the party is adopting a district-by-district approach rather than immediately moving the entire caravan towards Islamabad.

Charsadda will be the first major scheduled destination on October 9, followed by Mardan on October 10. The caravan is scheduled to reach Swabi the following day.

After arriving in Swabi, the party leadership will assess the political situation and announce its next course of action, according to the PTI general secretary.

The long march is taking place against the backdrop of an ongoing political dispute between the PTI and the federal government. The two sides have remained at odds over political and constitutional issues, while attempts at dialogue have continued through political intermediaries.

The PTI has maintained that its political demands should be addressed through negotiations and political engagement. Government officials, meanwhile, have called for political tensions to be reduced and have urged the opposition to pursue its demands through constitutional and parliamentary channels.

The latest schedule could also have implications for traffic and public activity in the districts through which the march passes. Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to monitor developments as the caravan moves from one district to another.

The PTI leadership has yet to announce whether the revised route will ultimately lead to Islamabad or whether additional stops will be added before a final decision is made.

For now, the immediate schedule places the caravan in Peshawar on Thursday night, Charsadda on October 9, Mardan on October 10 and Swabi on October 11.

Further decisions regarding the long march are expected after the PTI caravan reaches Swabi, where the party leadership will determine its next strategy based on the prevailing political situation.

The development marks another change in the PTI’s mobilisation strategy as the party seeks to maintain momentum while keeping its leadership and supporters engaged across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
