Peshawar(The COW News Digital) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has released initial details for its planned long march toward Islamabad, with the party preparing to mobilize workers from several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ahead of the October 4 protest.
According to the schedule shared by PTI leaders, the march will begin on October 4 under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The initial plan identifies southern districts of the province as the starting area, while party leadership continues to finalize the exact launch point and route.
PTI leader Shahid Khattak said convoys from Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, South Waziristan and Bannu would first gather before joining the main procession. He added that separate schedules for Karak, Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram would be announced later.
Party sources said the detailed schedule and route arrangements were being finalized in consultation with the leadership. Reports indicate that Karak and Dera Ismail Khan have been discussed as possible starting points for the southern route, although the final decision on the exact launch location had not yet been publicly confirmed.
The PTI had initially planned the long march for September 27 but later postponed it to October 4. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced the revised date following a meeting of the party’s political committee and said the march would depart from Peshawar. The party subsequently reaffirmed its decision to proceed with the October 4 protest.
The party has also accelerated preparations across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has directed party workers and organizational officials in Lahore and other districts to remain active on October 4, while party representatives from other parts of Punjab have been asked to reach Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, preparations for the march have included arrangements for a container to be used by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. PTI has also launched preparations for collecting financial contributions for the protest, with Afridi scheduled to participate in the fundraising activity at the party’s provincial secretariat.
The planned march comes amid heightened political tensions between PTI and the federal government. The party has repeatedly stated that the protest will be peaceful, while authorities have taken security measures in anticipation of possible movement toward Islamabad.
The final route, gathering points and district-wise schedules are expected to be communicated by PTI leadership as preparations continue. Party leaders have also been discussing how convoys from different districts will coordinate their movement toward Islamabad.
With October 4 approaching, PTI’s organizational machinery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces is being mobilized for the planned demonstration, while the federal and provincial authorities are preparing for possible security and traffic-related challenges.
