LAHORE(The COW News Digital) Pakistan’s emerging cricketer Razaullah has dismissed reports that he did not have a passport when he was selected for the national Test squad, saying his passport had been issued around a year earlier.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Mohammad Abbas after the third day of play, Razaullah addressed the rumours while reflecting on his impressive performance in his Test debut.
The young batter scored a brisk 81-run innings and played an attacking role for Pakistan during the match. Asked about reports suggesting that he lacked a passport when his name was included in the squad, Razaullah rejected the claims and clarified that his passport was already in place.
“My passport was made a year ago,” he said, putting an end to speculation surrounding his travel documentation.
Razaullah also recalled how unexpectedly he received the call to join the Test side. He said he had returned from an NCA camp and was offering prayers one morning when he received a phone call from Nabeel asking him to immediately return to Lahore.
The cricketer said he initially assumed that he had been called up for the Asian Games. However, after reaching Lahore, he learned that he was being selected to play Test cricket.
Reflecting on his batting ability, Razaullah said he had already scored both a half-century and a century in first-class cricket, giving him confidence that he could perform at the international level.
The young player also described himself as an all-rounder and spoke about his preference for playing short-pitched deliveries.
He said the short ball was one of his favourite deliveries to face and that he felt comfortable attacking it. During his innings, he adopted an aggressive approach and looked to take on the bowlers rather than simply defend.
Razaullah also shared a light-hearted detail about his preparation for the match. Smiling during the press conference, he said he had brought three bats with him, but two had broken during the game, leaving him with only one bat.
His comments came after an encouraging start to his international Test career, with his 81-run knock attracting attention for its attacking style and confidence.
The young batter’s performance has added to expectations surrounding his future in Pakistan cricket. His ability to contribute with the bat and his self-described all-rounder skills could provide the national team with another promising option for upcoming assignments.
For now, Razaullah has sought to put the passport controversy to rest while focusing on his cricket and making the most of his opportunity at the international level.
