ISLAMABAD(The COW News Digital) The Supreme Court on Wednesday summoned Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan during proceedings concerning the proposed transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former prime minister Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed, comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, resumed proceedings related to Khan’s medical treatment and hospital transfer.
At the beginning of the hearing, the bench asked about the presence of representatives for the parties involved. No representatives from the federal or Punjab governments were initially present, while the superintendent of Adiala Jail was also absent.
Additional Attorney General Rana Asad subsequently appeared before the court and informed the judges that the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) had sought the record of the case a day earlier. He also read out the FCC’s order before the Supreme Court bench.
Justice Waheed then asked whether the attorney general was available at his office. After being informed that Awan was present there, the court directed that he appear before the bench. Proceedings were temporarily paused pending his arrival.
The development follows an order issued by the Federal Constitutional Court on Tuesday seeking records concerning Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital from the Supreme Court, along with records of similar cases pending before high courts.
