World ( The cow news digital ) Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to send a parliamentary delegation to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to engage with local stakeholders and address growing concerns through dialogue.
Speaking during a session of the National Assembly, Achakzai emphasized the importance of national unity, parliamentary supremacy, and meaningful engagement with all regions of the country. He stated that Pakistan represents every province and territory, including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir, and called for policies that reflect equal respect and representation for all citizens.
Achakzai expressed concern over recent developments in Azad Kashmir, saying that the people of the region have historically demonstrated strong support for Pakistan. He argued that grievances should be addressed through consultation and dialogue rather than confrontation. The opposition leader appealed to the prime minister to dispatch a delegation that could listen to local concerns and help build trust between the federal government and the people of the region.
During his speech, Achakzai also highlighted the need to strengthen democratic institutions. He said that a stronger parliament would enhance governance and reinforce public confidence in the political system. According to him, empowering parliament would allow it to play a more effective role in shaping national policies, including foreign affairs and issues of national importance.
The opposition leader further discussed the distribution of resources among provinces, referring to Balochistan’s contribution to the country’s economy. He stressed that equitable development and greater provincial empowerment are essential for long-term stability and progress.
Achakzai maintained that respecting constitutional rights and ensuring greater participation of all nationalities in decision-making would contribute to national cohesion. He added that democratic governance, dialogue, and institutional strength are key factors in addressing challenges facing the country.
His remarks came during a parliamentary debate focused on governance and national affairs. The speech drew attention to broader discussions regarding federal-provincial relations, parliamentary authority, and the importance of political consensus in resolving national issues.
Political observers say Achakzai’s call for dialogue and stronger democratic institutions reflects ongoing debates about governance reforms and the role of parliament in shaping Pakistan’s future.
