World ( The cow news digital ) Pakistan will participate in the next round of technical-level talks between Iran and the United States, scheduled to resume next week, the Foreign Office said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the continuation of negotiations between Tehran and Washington is a positive development and reflects the commitment of all parties to pursuing dialogue over confrontation. He reiterated that Pakistan firmly supports diplomatic engagement and believes constructive dialogue remains the most effective path toward resolving complex international issues.
The spokesperson also highlighted the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the visit, the Iranian leader was accompanied by a high-level delegation that held meetings with Pakistan’s top civilian and military leadership, including the prime minister and the army chief.
According to the Foreign Office, discussions during the visit covered a range of bilateral matters, including trade, economic cooperation, and regional developments. Officials also explored opportunities to expand commercial ties between the two neighboring countries, particularly in anticipation of improved economic conditions following the easing of sanctions on Iran.
Regarding the long-discussed Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, the spokesperson said he was not aware of specific details but confirmed that various areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meetings.
The Foreign Office further revealed that recent talks between Iran and the United States took place in Bergenstock, with Pakistan and Qatar participating as mediators. Several issues were discussed during the negotiations, and technical teams from both Pakistan and Qatar remain engaged with the parties to facilitate further progress.
Pakistan welcomed the international recognition it has received for its mediation efforts, with the spokesperson noting that several countries have appreciated Islamabad’s constructive role. He added that the process has strengthened global confidence in Pakistan’s diplomatic capabilities.
The spokesperson also acknowledged the role of the Pakistani media in promoting responsible reporting and fostering an atmosphere of trust during sensitive diplomatic engagements.
Separately, the Foreign Office said Pakistan recently assisted in the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals from British and American custody. It also highlighted the adoption of UN Resolution 2223, jointly supported by Pakistan and Denmark, which received backing from 153 countries and strongly condemns attacks on United Nations peacekeepers.
Pakistan remains actively engaged in efforts to secure the release of Pakistani citizens held hostage by Somali pirates, with diplomatic and humanitarian channels continuing to work toward a resolution.
