Peshawar(The COW News Digital) Tensions have escalated in the high-profile 9 May case involving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, as questions over key evidence continue to dominate the proceedings.

According to reports from the Punjab Forensic Lab, evidence connected to CM Afridi has been identified, while fresh data from NADRA also points to his association with certain materials linked to the case. The court has ordered a complete report to be submitted by February 14.

The Peshawar Police claim that, if directed by the court, they will question CM Afridi as part of the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, social media discussions have raised questions over whether the police sent evidence to the Punjab Forensic Lab voluntarily or under court orders.

In a statement to media, Chief Minister Afridi clarified that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police did not submit the materials on their own. Instead, a sealed envelope containing a USB was handed to the investigative officer under court instructions, who was then directed to forward it to the forensic lab. Afridi emphasized that neither his legal team nor the investigating officer was aware of the contents of the USB, and the court denied the lawyer’s request to review it.

“The evidence was sent under conditions that raise serious concerns about fairness,” Afridi said. Forensic experts were asked to determine whether the person visible in the video was indeed CM Afridi. The lab confirmed his identity, but the core issue remains whether he had any involvement in the 9 May incidents. To date, police have not formally questioned him regarding the events.

Peshawar Capital Police Chief, Mian Saeed, told Jang that the police had already completed their preliminary investigation and filed a challan with the court. Following the submission of additional evidence by opposing counsel, the court ordered the USB to be sent to the Punjab Forensic Lab and NADRA. Both agencies’ reports have now been added to the case file, and further proceedings will follow according to the court’s directives.

If the court issues further orders, CM Suhail Afridi may be formally questioned. The central question now is whether the videos and images have any direct connection to the 9 May Peshawar events. The case continues to draw intense scrutiny from both legal observers and the public.
