National ( The cow news digital ) Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar has warned that if Karachi’s issues continue to be ignored, a “Karachi Action Committee” could emerge as a response to growing public grievances over the city’s governance and development challenges.

Speaking during a session of the National Assembly, Farooq Sattar said that neither the opposition nor the government can claim to be entirely right, adding that both sides have made mistakes in handling national and urban issues. He emphasized the need for self-accountability and urged lawmakers to examine their own responsibilities instead of solely blaming political opponents.

He stressed that constitutional provisions, including Articles 7, 32, and 40A, are often overlooked in political debates, despite their relevance to governance, rights, and civic responsibilities. According to him, meaningful progress can only be achieved if all political actors commit to constitutional adherence and institutional reform.

Farooq Sattar called for national reconciliation and political consensus, arguing that Pakistan requires a broader process of political dialogue and mutual understanding to address its ongoing governance challenges. He said that without such efforts, tensions between federal and urban stakeholders could continue to grow.

Focusing on Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and economic hub, the MQM leader warned that continued neglect of urban issues could lead to stronger political demands from the city’s residents. He suggested that if governance problems remain unresolved, public sentiment may shift toward calls for alternative administrative arrangements, including increased autonomy or federal oversight.

He further cautioned that failure to address Karachi’s long-standing infrastructure, water supply, transportation, and municipal governance issues could lead to the formation of a “Karachi Action Committee,” reflecting rising frustration among citizens.

Farooq Sattar urged the federal government and relevant authorities to take immediate notice of urban concerns and ensure that development and governance priorities are not sidelined. He reiterated that ignoring these issues could deepen political alienation and fuel further instability in urban centers across Pakistan.

The MQM leader concluded by stressing that timely action and serious engagement with Karachi’s problems are essential to prevent the situation from escalating into broader political demands that could reshape the city’s relationship with federal institutions.
