National ( The cow news digital ) MUZAFFARABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) achieved a resounding victory in the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, securing 14 out of 19 decided constituencies, according to complete unofficial results. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stood second, claiming five seats.
Voting was conducted across 20 constituencies, including eight in the Muzaffarabad Division and 12 reserved for refugees. However, polling in LA-28 Muzaffarabad-2 (Lachhrat) was postponed due to severe weather conditions and landslides that prevented election staff and materials from reaching multiple polling stations, including Naseeri, Nasda, Panjgran, Devliyan, and Panjkot. According to an Election Commission spokesperson, polling at the affected stations has been rescheduled for August 4, with sealed polling bags retrieved by the Returning Officer.
In key battlegrounds across the region:
- LA-25 Neelum Valley-1: PML-N’s Shah Ghulam Qadir claimed victory, leaving the PPP candidate in second place, while former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas finished third.
- LA-29 Muzaffarabad: PPP’s Sardar Mukhtar won with 19,792 votes.
- LA-30 Muzaffarabad-4: PML-N’s Mustafa Bashir Abbasi secured victory with 18,082 votes against PPP’s Mubashir Muneer Awan (11,947 votes).
- LA-31 Muzaffarabad-5: PML-N candidate Saqib Majeed Raja emerged victorious with 32,511 votes over PPP’s Chaudhry Latif Akbar (23,957 votes).
- LA-32: Former AJK Prime Minister and PML-N candidate Raja Farooq Haider won with 17,507 votes against PPP (13,964 votes).
- LA-33: PPP’s Diwan Ali Qamar Chughtai secured victory with 19,521 votes.
PML-N also demonstrated dominant performance across the refugee constituencies:
- LA-34 Jammu-1: Nasir Dar (PML-N) won with 5,685 votes.
- LA-35 Jammu-2: Chaudhry Ismail Gujjar (PML-N) secured a landslide victory with 23,893 votes.
- LA-36 Jammu-3: Hafiz Ahsan Raza (PML-N) won with 27,218 votes.
- LA-37 Jammu-4: Maryam Javeed (PML-N) secured victory with 28,664 votes.
- LA-38 Jammu-5: Chaudhry Zeeshan Younas (PML-N) won with 17,565 votes.
- LA-39 Jammu-6: Raja Muhammad Siddique (PML-N) claimed victory with 10,981 votes.
In the Valley constituencies, PPP’s Aamir Abdul Ghaffar (LA-40) and Abdul Majid Khan (LA-45) secured wins, while PML-N claimed LA-41 (Muhammad Aamir Shah), LA-42 (Syed Shaukat Ali Shah), LA-43 (Yasin Lone), and LA-44 (Ahmad Raza Qadri).
