NATIONAL ( The cow news digital ) Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has announced that the protest outside Adiala Jail has not ended and will move into a new phase with a street movement across the country.
Speaking during a court appearance, Aleema Khan said the objective of the campaign was not limited to securing a meeting with her brother but was aimed at restoring what she described as his legal and constitutional rights.
She claimed that Imran Khan had become a symbol of issues related to human rights, democracy, and justice. According to her, the ongoing legal proceedings against him represent broader concerns about political rights and access to fair legal processes.
Aleema Khan criticized the handling of court proceedings, alleging that repeated arrest warrants had previously been issued, while the trial process was now being delayed. She questioned the scheduling of hearings, claiming that a new hearing date was set before the court appearance could take place.
She also alleged that decisions regarding case dates were being influenced by external instructions, though no evidence was presented publicly to support the claim.
The PTI leader’s sister further stated that legal actions, including the freezing of bank accounts and blocking of identity documents, had previously been carried out quickly. She said that if there were grounds for punishment, the court should proceed according to law, but if the cases lacked evidence, they should result in acquittal rather than remaining unresolved.
Aleema Khan said she would not allow the cases to remain as a constant pressure mechanism and demanded that legal matters be decided on merit.
She also criticized the Punjab government, referring to it as an illegitimate administration, and claimed that public fear had decreased following protests outside Adiala Jail.
According to her, the demonstrations outside the prison had encouraged people to raise their voices, and she, along with her two sisters, would continue participating in the movement. She said the campaign would now expand from the jail area to streets across different communities.
