LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated on Saturday that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have delivered a decisive mandate for development and progress, thoroughly defeating the politics of chaos, violence, and disruption through the power of their vote.

Addressing a parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in AJK, Maryam Nawaz praised the resilient electorate for making a prudent choice despite challenging circumstances. She asserted that voters firmly rejected elements attempting to foster hostility between Pakistan and AJK, noting that PML-N rallies across the valley echoed with passionate chants of “Pakistan Zindabad.”

Highlighting past political hurdles, the Chief Minister remarked that PML-N has historically faced severe conspiracies and obstacles, yet its popularity has consistently rebounded. Referring to the 2021 elections, she pointed out that despite administrative challenges during the PTI tenure, the party has now successfully reclaimed its true majority through public trust.

Outlining immediate priorities for the region, Maryam emphasized that there is no time to waste on protocol, dinners, or prolonged meetings. She urged the incoming leadership to immediately implement effective governance roadmaps—similar to those utilized in Punjab—to optimize local budgets, boost tourism potential, generate native revenue, and deliver doorstep relief to the citizens from day one.

Addressing criticism from political opponents, Maryam expressed disappointment over allegations of rigging, reminding critics that the incumbent administration, police, and government machinery in AJK belonged to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) during the electoral process. She stressed that basic logic should prevail when leveling accusations, adding that true victory calls for utmost humility and dedicated public service.
