Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shafi Jan has officially confirmed that the individual killed during an incident on Rawalpindi’s Mall Road was a party worker.

Speaking during an appearance on Geo News program Capital Talk, Shafi Jan stated that the deceased, identified as Muhammad Hussain, hailed from Khyber district and belonged to the constituency of PTI Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Abdul Ghani. However, he clarified that Hussain did not hold any official party office or organizational responsibility.

According to Rawalpindi police spokespersons, the individual was killed in retaliatory fire by security forces after opening fire on Mall Road, noting that he had affiliations with a political party.

Shafi Jan revealed that he had spoken with MPA Abdul Ghani, who claimed that Muhammad Hussain had been suffering from mental health instability over the past nine months. The PTI leader argued that associating such an individual act with the wider party leadership is unfair. While condemning the firing on security personnel, Jan demanded a transparent investigation and the immediate release of CCTV footage surrounding the incident.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry responded by stating that inciting statements from PTI leaders often push workers toward such extreme actions, adding that comprehensive investigations into the Rawalpindi incident are currently underway.
