PTI Divided Over Boycott Decision for AJK Elections

National ( The cow news digital ) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has yet to reach a final decision on whether to boycott the upcoming general elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as differences continue between the party’s political committee and its regional governing body.

According to sources, disagreements remain within PTI over participation in the elections. While the Azad Kashmir governing body has recommended contesting the polls, the party’s political committee had announced a possible boycott, creating uncertainty among party members.

Sources said the PTI political committee had linked its boycott decision to a review meeting within seven days. However, after the deadline passed on July 9, the committee has not yet called the expected meeting to reconsider the matter.

The Azad Kashmir governing body reportedly held a meeting on July 9 and, by majority opinion, recommended that the party should take part in the elections. Despite this recommendation, the earlier boycott announcement by the political committee has continued to create confusion within the party ranks.

The uncertainty surrounding the boycott decision has also affected party candidates. Sources claimed that five PTI ticket holders and applicants have left the party due to the unclear election strategy.

Opposition leaders at the federal level have also advised PTI leadership not to make a decision regarding an election boycott in haste, suggesting that the party should carefully review the political situation before taking any final step.

PTI Azad Kashmir President Qayyum Niazi has maintained that the current circumstances are not suitable for free, fair, and peaceful elections. He has expressed concerns over the environment surrounding the electoral process.
