LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif departed for China on Tuesday on a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional development.
Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren, alongside senior provincial officials, saw off the Chief Minister at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore. Upon her arrival at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, high-ranking Chinese government officials will formally receive her delegation.
During her visit, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is scheduled to begin her official engagements at the Kunlun Hall within the Xinjiang State Guest House conference center. A high-level delegation led by Chen Xiaojiang, Party Secretary of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, will meet with the Chief Minister to discuss key areas of mutual interest, including economic collaboration, agricultural innovation, and industrial development.
Additionally, He Zhongyou, Deputy Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee and Political Commissar of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), will hold a detailed meeting with Maryam Nawaz. Discussions will focus on enhancing trade ties, investment opportunities, and technology transfer between Punjab and the Xinjiang region.
The Xinjiang leadership will host an official banquet in honor of the Chief Minister and her accompanying delegation. During her four-day stay, Maryam Nawaz will reside at the Xinjiang State Guest House as an official guest of the Chinese government.
This high-profile visit comes as part of broader efforts to deepen economic partnership, enhance sub-national diplomacy, and explore new avenues of industrial and infrastructural collaboration under the framework of regional connectivity initiatives.
