LAHORE: The Provincial Local Government Department of Punjab has formally requested Rs 12.5 billion from the provincial administration to make necessary arrangements for conducting local body elections across the province.
According to sources within the Punjab Assembly, the requisition for the election grant has been submitted, and the funding request is set to be presented before the provincial cabinet for formal approval.
The developments follow the scheduling of a crucial cabinet meeting convened in Lahore. High-ranking provincial officials and ministers are expected to gather to review several pressing agenda items, with the approval of local body election funds being a primary point of discussion.
If approved by the cabinet, the allocation will pave the way for the Election Commission and relevant provincial departments to finalize logistical, administrative, and security preparations for the upcoming local government polls across Punjab.
