PESHAWAR – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar has announced that following the failure of political and legal attempts and the state’s unjust posture, party workers must now physically mobilize on the streets to secure the release of party founder Imran Khan.
Addressing a party gathering in Peshawar, Akbar highlighted that Imran Khan’s imprisonment has now crossed three years. He noted that over the past year, PTI exhausted all available constitutional, legal, and political avenues to resolve issues through dialogue and avoid a direct confrontation between party activists and state machinery. However, he lamented that the ruling authorities mistook the party’s reconciliation efforts for inherent weakness.
Urging party supporters to step up, Akbar stated that the time for restricting activism to social media platforms has passed and that workers must now mobilize on the ground. He clarified that this movement is not aimed at securing privileges for lawmakers, but solely at achieving the release of Imran Khan.
Acknowledging past missteps within the party, the KP leader remarked that while PTI always viewed the state as a protective entity, it was repeatedly met with unfair treatment. Akbar extended a call to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to actively support the movement, while appealing to state institutions to exercise prudence to prevent growing public hostility.
