NATIONAL ( The cow news digital ) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan should be released and allowed to play a political role in the country’s democratic process. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists in Lahore, addressing both domestic political developments and regional security concerns.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that efforts to establish contact with PTI have so far not produced any meaningful outcome. However, he emphasized the importance of political reconciliation and engagement among all major stakeholders to ensure stability in the country’s political system.

Commenting on broader regional issues, he warned that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East could have far-reaching consequences if not managed carefully. He noted that Gulf countries should reassess the presence of foreign military bases, arguing that such arrangements may contribute to regional instability rather than security.

He further stated that Pakistan is attempting to play a mediating role in international conflicts and could help prevent escalation into a larger global confrontation. According to him, if the current geopolitical situation continues unchecked, there is a risk that additional powers may become involved, increasing the likelihood of wider conflict.

Welcoming recent defense cooperation agreements between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, he said such developments reflect strengthening ties between the two countries. At the same time, he criticized inconsistencies in national policies, stating that long-term stability requires continuity rather than frequent shifts in governance approaches.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also remarked that major infrastructure initiatives such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had slowed down during previous political periods and remain underutilized. He stressed the need for consistent economic and strategic planning to ensure sustainable development.

Regarding religious seminaries, he noted that policies toward madrassas have remained largely unchanged across different governments, including previous administrations and the current leadership. He expressed concern over delays in registration processes and financial account access for these institutions.

He concluded by stating that political leaderships should focus on dialogue, institutional stability, and policy consistency rather than confrontation, warning that short-term political gains would not translate into long-term national progress.
