LAHORE(The COW News Digital) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja met the party’s Vice Chairman, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore, where Qureshi is currently undergoing medical treatment. The meeting carried both personal and political significance amid renewed political maneuvering within PTI’s ranks.

During the visit, Salman Akram Raja inquired about Qureshi’s health, offered prayers for his swift recovery, and engaged in an in-depth discussion on the country’s evolving political landscape. According to party sources, PTI leaders Shaukat Basra and Zaheer Babar were also present during the meeting.

Insiders revealed that the discussion touched upon recent contacts between Qureshi and several former PTI members, including Fawad Chaudhry, who have recently re-engaged in efforts to chart a new political course. Raja is said to have discussed these developments with Qureshi, emphasizing the importance of maintaining party unity amid growing external pressures.

In recent weeks, several former and estranged PTI leaders have initiated backchannel efforts to ease political tensions and explore potential alliances. Reports suggest that these figures are considering outreach to leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other political parties, as well as to PTI’s founding members, in a bid to facilitate the release of Imran Khan and reduce the country’s political polarization.

According to sources, the former PTI leadership aims to “lower the political temperature” and create conditions conducive to dialogue among rival factions. During their conversation, Raja and Qureshi reportedly discussed possible frameworks for reconciliation and the role Qureshi could play in mediating between party veterans and emerging political blocs.

Separately, the same group of former PTI leaders, including Ejaz Chaudhry, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, and Omar Sarfraz Cheema, also held meetings in Lahore to review the current political scenario and potential pathways toward stabilization.

Observers note that these meetings signal a subtle but significant shift within PTI’s political dynamics, as various factions explore options to reassert their relevance in Pakistan’s rapidly changing power landscape.

The discussions at PKLI highlight both the personal solidarity among senior PTI figures and the renewed push for political reconciliation at a time when the party faces internal challenges and external constraints.
