National ( The cow news digital ) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has issued a clarification regarding his recent meeting with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, following reports and political controversy surrounding the engagement.
In his statement, Sohail Afridi rejected claims that any political discussions took place during the meeting. He emphasized that the conversation was strictly focused on matters related to security and law and order in the province, particularly the recent incidents of terrorism in Bannu and the overall security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Chief Minister, the meeting was held in a professional and administrative context, with no political agenda discussed or agreed upon. He added that discussions centered on improving coordination between federal and provincial authorities to address security challenges more effectively.
The clarification comes amid allegations raised by Aleema Khan, who claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi without informing the party leadership or the family of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Aleema Khan had stated that the family was not aware of the meeting and that no member of the family was present during the discussion. Her remarks triggered political debate within PTI circles, with questions raised about communication and decision-making processes within the party.
Responding to the controversy, Sohail Afridi reiterated that the meeting should not be viewed through a political lens. He maintained that it was part of routine engagement between government institutions dealing with internal security matters, especially in light of rising concerns over militancy and public safety.
Barrister Gohar and other PTI representatives have not issued detailed public responses regarding the allegations so far. However, the matter has sparked discussion on internal party coordination and transparency in political interactions with federal authorities.
Political observers suggest that such meetings between provincial and federal officials are common, particularly when addressing urgent security issues. However, the controversy highlights ongoing tensions within PTI’s internal structure and communication channels.
As the situation develops, further clarification from party leadership is expected to address concerns raised by different stakeholders.
