Islamabad( The COW News Digital)Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has confirmed a major service disruption that affected its internet and mobile networks across the country, leaving thousands of users frustrated. The outage also impacted Ufone customers, who experienced connectivity issues in multiple regions.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, PTCL acknowledged the disruption, assuring customers that its technical teams were working “with full dedication” to restore services at the earliest.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers due to the interruption in PTCL and Ufone services,” the spokesperson said. “Our teams are working round the clock to ensure that connectivity is restored as quickly as possible.”

The disruption, which began early Tuesday morning, sparked widespread complaints on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram. Customers reported being unable to access the internet, make calls, or use data services for several hours.

According to users in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar, the outage created significant hurdles for businesses, online classes, and remote work, underscoring the reliance on stable digital infrastructure in Pakistan.

Industry experts suggest that such outages highlight the country’s need for stronger backup systems and improved disaster recovery measures in the telecom sector. While PTCL did not disclose the technical cause of the problem, sources indicate it may have been linked to backbone connectivity issues, possibly involving international submarine cables.

This is not the first time PTCL and Ufone customers have faced connectivity problems. Earlier this year, minor service interruptions were reported due to cable faults. However, the scale of Tuesday’s outage drew particular criticism, with many users urging the company to upgrade its systems and improve communication during crises.

PTCL reassured customers that full service restoration was expected soon and promised updates through official channels. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience and understanding,” the spokesperson added.

As Pakistan moves toward greater digitalization, ensuring uninterrupted internet services remains a challenge. With millions dependent on PTCL and Ufone for communication, even a few hours of downtime can have a significant nationwide impact.
