Washington( The COW News Digital)-U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the Abraham Accords could soon expand, expressing hope that Saudi Arabia will join the historic Middle East agreement. Speaking in an interview with Fox Business Network on Friday, Trump said several countries have already shown interest in joining, and he anticipates a rapid inclusion process.
The Abraham Accords, first signed in 2020 during Trump’s initial presidency, normalized diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab nations, including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, followed later by Morocco and Sudan. The agreements marked a significant breakthrough in the long-standing Arab-Israeli diplomatic standoff.
Trump emphasized that the inclusion of Saudi Arabia could encourage other nations to join as well. “I want Saudi Arabia in the Abraham Accords, and other countries too. I believe that once Saudi Arabia joins, others will follow,” he stated.
The president revealed that he had very positive discussions with countries expressing interest in joining the Accords, suggesting that a broader expansion could take place in the near future. “I am confident they will all join very soon, he added.
Trump’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about regional peace and stability, including the future of the Gaza Strip. Earlier this week, he met with Muslim and European leaders in Egypt to discuss strategies for ending the Gaza conflict, framing his proposal as part of a larger regional peace initiative.
The U.S. administration’s push for an expanded Abraham Accords also raises the possibility of renewed diplomatic engagement between Israel and Iran, long-standing rivals in the region. Trump suggested that a potential agreement between the two nations could be achievable, stating, I believe Iran wants a deal — wouldn’t that be great?
Analysts note that expanding the Accords to include Saudi Arabia and other interested nations could significantly reshape the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, fostering increased diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation.
While the timeline for Saudi Arabia’s formal inclusion remains uncertain, Trump’s statements signal renewed U.S. interest in broadening the scope of Arab-Israeli normalization, potentially bringing multiple nations into a single peace framework.
The Abraham Accords remain a key pillar of U.S. diplomacy in the region, with expansion seen as a critical step toward long-term stability and cooperation across the Middle East.
