British Armed Forces Minister Colonel Escott Carns stated in an interview that “the shadow of war is knocking at Europe’s door, and the UK must be ready.”

The government also announced the establishment of a new Defense Counter-Intelligence Unit, designed to detect, monitor, and neutralize espionage activities by adversarial states. This step is part of broader efforts to strengthen national security amid rising geopolitical tensions.
