KIEV ( The COW News Digital) Ukrainian intelligence officials have accused China of providing Russia with critical intelligence to aid attacks on Ukrainian territory, escalating concerns over Beijing’s role in the ongoing conflict. The allegations come amid longstanding accusations by Ukrainian leaders that China has supported Russia with weapons and other military assistance.
According to a Reuters report, senior Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service official Oleh Oleksandr stated that China is supplying Russia with satellite-based intelligence to enable precise missile strikes within Ukraine. The intelligence reportedly includes information on strategic targets, some of which are linked to foreign investments in the region.
Oleksandr added that there is evidence of high-level coordination between Russia and China to monitor Ukrainian territory through satellite surveillance, identify key strategic targets, and conduct further reconnaissance. Ukrainian officials claim that some of the targeted sites in recent months are owned by foreign investors, raising concerns about the broader implications for international businesses operating in Ukraine.
The accusations follow statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other officials regarding missile strikes in the western Zakarpattia region in August. One such attack reportedly targeted an American-owned factory, resulting in injuries to 15 people. Zelensky has previously asserted that China is supplying Russia with weapons and ammunition and has intelligence suggesting that Chinese entities are manufacturing military equipment inside Russia.
These claims, if substantiated, could further strain relations between China and Western nations, which have consistently condemned Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine.
