China(The COW News Digital)A 10-year-old boy in China has successfully won a legal battle against his father after the parent withdrew and spent the child’s accumulated savings without permission. The case has attracted international attention due to the unusual circumstances and the child’s determination to reclaim his funds.
The incident took place in Zhengzhou, a city in China’s Henan Province. The young boy, named Xiaohe, had been saving money gifted to him during Chinese New Year celebrations over several years. His total savings exceeded 80,000 yuan, equivalent to roughly 32 lakh Pakistani rupees. These funds were deposited in a bank account set up by his father.
Following a divorce, Xiaohe had lived with his father for two years. When the father remarried, he reportedly withdrew 82,750 yuan from the child’s account without consent, using the money to cover expenses related to his new marriage. Xiaohe was subsequently sent to live with his mother.

Upon discovering the withdrawal, Xiaohe’s mother confronted the father and demanded the return of the money. When he refused, a legal case was filed on behalf of Xiaohe, claiming that the funds were the child’s property and had been unlawfully taken.
During the court proceedings, the judge determined that the money rightfully belonged to Xiaohe and that the father’s unauthorized use of the funds constituted a violation of the child’s legal rights. The court ruled in favor of Xiaohe, ordering the father to return the full amount along with interest.
Legal experts note that the case underscores the importance of protecting children’s financial rights, even in family disputes. It also highlights how minors can exercise legal recourse in matters where their property or savings are misappropriated.
Xiaohe’s mother said that the case was not only about recovering the money but also about teaching her son the value of standing up for his rights. Social media users have praised Xiaohe’s courage and determination, describing the outcome as both inspiring and a reminder of the importance of financial literacy from a young age.
The story has sparked broader conversations in China and internationally about parental responsibilities, children’s rights, and ethical handling of minors’ savings. For Xiaohe, the legal victory ensures that his years of careful saving will be respected and protected.
