World ( The cow news digital ) Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called for a transparent and comprehensive investigation into a shooting incident in Chakwal, Pakistan, in which an Australian-origin child was killed and two others were injured during an alleged police operation.
In an official statement, the Australian Prime Minister urged the Pakistani government to ensure a full and impartial inquiry into the incident, stressing the importance of uncovering the facts and delivering justice to the affected family. The call comes amid growing diplomatic attention on the case, which has triggered concern in both countries.
The Australian High Commission in Islamabad confirmed that it is in close contact with Pakistani authorities and is providing all possible assistance to the victims’ family. Officials stated that support measures are ongoing for the relatives of the deceased child and the injured individuals, including consular assistance and coordination with local institutions.
The High Commission expressed condolences to the bereaved family, describing the incident as a deeply tragic event. It emphasized that efforts are being made to ensure the family receives appropriate support during what it called a difficult and painful time.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred on the night of June 10–11 in Chakwal, where personnel of the Punjab Crime Control Department allegedly opened fire on a vehicle carrying an Australian-returned family. A nine-year-old girl named Hania was killed in the incident, while her father, identified as 32-year-old Adil, and another child sustained injuries.
Following the incident, authorities registered a case against the officer involved, who was subsequently arrested. A judicial magistrate has remanded the accused to jail custody as investigations proceed. Police officials have assured the affected family that justice will be ensured following due legal process.
The case has sparked widespread attention due to the involvement of foreign nationals and the nature of the incident. Both Pakistani authorities and diplomatic representatives have indicated that the investigation will be conducted with transparency and urgency.
