National ( The cow news digital ) In a major development during an ongoing crackdown against power theft, Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has uncovered multiple cases involving advanced and unconventional methods of electricity theft in the Eastern Circle of the city.
According to a LESCO spokesperson, operations were conducted under the supervision of Superintending Engineer Eastern Circle Umar Bilal in various subdivisions, leading to the detection of illegal power usage and meter tampering activities.
In the Mahmood Booti subdivision, authorities discovered a direct electricity supply connection through the main cable at a dairy facility operating under the name Gujjar Dairy Milk. Officials reported that heavy electrical load, including chillers, freezers, air conditioners, and other high-consumption equipment, was being run through an unauthorized connection.
In a separate action in the Baghbanpura subdivision, inspectors found that a consumer identified as Farooq had tampered with his electricity meter, which was allegedly being controlled through a Bluetooth-enabled device. The discovery highlights a growing trend of using modern technology to manipulate electricity meters and bypass monitoring systems.
LESCO teams immediately documented both incidents and initiated legal proceedings. Detection bills have been issued against the accused consumers, while First Information Reports (FIRs) are also being registered as part of the enforcement process.
Officials stated that such activities not only cause significant financial losses to the national exchequer but also put additional burden on law-abiding consumers. The company reiterated that strict action will continue against all individuals involved in electricity theft, regardless of influence or status.
Chief Executive Officer LESCO, Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt, emphasized that a zero-tolerance policy is being implemented against power theft. He said that operations will continue across all circles to identify illegal connections and meter tampering cases, and those responsible will face legal consequences under the law.

Authorities further noted that modern techniques, including digital interference and remote-controlled devices, are increasingly being used in electricity theft cases. However, LESCO assured that monitoring systems and field inspections are being strengthened to counter such practices.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort to reduce technical and non-technical losses in the power distribution system and ensure fair billing across the region.
Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests or detections are expected as field operations continue.
