World ( The cow news digital ) Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has initiated legal action against the makers of the upcoming film Kala Hiran, alleging unauthorized use of elements associated with his public image and personality rights.
According to Indian media reports, Khan’s legal team has served a notice to the film’s creators, demanding an immediate halt to the movie’s promotional activities and release plans. The notice reportedly claims that the project draws direct references to the actor’s long-running blackbuck hunting case, which dates back to 1998 and remains linked to ongoing legal proceedings.
The legal notice was addressed to casting director Akshay Pandey and raises concerns that the film may be portraying a character resembling Salman Khan without obtaining his consent. The actor’s representatives argue that neither his name, likeness, image, nor any identifiable references connected to him have been authorized for use in the production.
Khan’s legal team further contends that creating a character allegedly modeled on the actor could be defamatory and may influence public perception regarding a legal matter that continues to attract attention. The notice also states that such portrayals could interfere with the principle of a fair trial, particularly as aspects of the case remain under judicial consideration.
The controversy intensified following the release of the film’s promotional poster. Reports indicate that the poster features a character bearing a noticeable resemblance to Salman Khan, including visual elements often associated with the actor, such as a turquoise bracelet and a firearm. These similarities have become a central point of dispute between the two sides.
However, the film’s director, Bharat S Shrinath, and producer, Amit Jani, have strongly rejected the allegations. They maintain that the legal notice is an attempt to pressure and intimidate the production team. The filmmakers insist that the project is inspired by real-life legal and judicial events rather than any individual’s personal story.
The production team recently unveiled the film’s first poster and announced plans to release a teaser on June 20. As the dispute unfolds, the case has reignited public discussion surrounding the decades-old blackbuck hunting controversy and its continuing legal significance.
