UAE(The COW News Digital)The United Arab Emirates has firmly rejected allegations that it supplied weapons to Yemeni rebel groups, expressing deep regret over what it described as misleading claims following recent developments in Yemen.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to remarks circulating after an airstrike carried out by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition on a Yemeni port. The ministry said that claims linking the UAE to the delivery of weapons were incorrect and based on misinformation.
According to the statement, the UAE categorically denies any involvement in actions that could escalate tensions among Yemeni parties. It stressed that Abu Dhabi remains committed to regional stability and rejects any attempt to portray it as contributing to internal conflict in Yemen.
The foreign ministry emphasized that the UAE fully respects the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, describing relations between the two countries as fraternal, historic and foundational to regional stability. The statement added that the UAE has always sought to maintain full coordination and alignment with Saudi Arabia on all matters related to regional security.
Addressing the specific allegations, the ministry clarified that the shipment in question did not contain any weapons. It explained that the vehicles unloaded at the Yemeni port were intended solely for use by the UAE armed forces and were not delivered to any Yemeni group. The ministry said Saudi authorities had been fully informed and coordinated with in advance regarding the shipment.
The statement further noted that there was a clear understanding with Saudi Arabia that the vehicles would not leave the port. In this context, the UAE expressed surprise that the vehicles stationed at the port were targeted, despite prior coordination and agreements.
The foreign ministry reiterated that UAE forces joined operations in Yemen at the invitation of the internationally recognized Yemeni government and within the framework of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition. The coalition’s stated objectives include restoring Yemen’s legitimate government, safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and supporting efforts to combat terrorism.
According to the statement, the UAE has made significant sacrifices in pursuit of these goals and has consistently supported the Yemeni people across different phases of the conflict, including humanitarian and stabilization efforts.
The ministry concluded by urging all parties to handle recent developments responsibly and through dialogue to avoid unnecessary escalation. It stressed the importance of preserving unity among coalition partners and focusing on shared objectives to ensure stability and security in Yemen and the wider region.
The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to cooperation, transparency and constructive engagement with its allies, underlining that any issues should be resolved through coordination rather than public accusations.
