US Embassy Issues Strong Warning to Indian Nationals Over Law Violations

Washington(The COW News Digital)The United States has issued a strong warning to Indian nationals over illegal entry and violations of US laws, signaling heightened concern over criminal activity and immigration-related offenses. The warning was released by the US Embassy in India, underscoring the Trump administration’s strict approach toward border security and law enforcement.

In a statement posted on social media platform X on Tuesday, the US Embassy cautioned that anyone who violates American laws will face serious legal consequences. The message emphasized that US authorities will not show leniency toward individuals involved in illegal immigration, criminal conduct or abuse of visa conditions.

The embassy stated that the Trump administration remains firmly committed to protecting US citizens and securing national borders. Since returning to office in January, President Donald Trump has intensified enforcement measures against undocumented migration, introducing tougher visa rules and accelerating deportations throughout 2025.

Notably, no similar warnings were issued by US diplomatic missions in Pakistan or other countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar or China. The targeted advisory has drawn attention amid growing scrutiny of immigration trends and crime statistics involving foreign nationals in the United States.

Relations between Washington and New Delhi have experienced strain this year due to several developments. These include the imposition of a 50 percent tariff on certain Indian products by the US and India’s unease over expanding American engagement with Pakistan following heightened regional tensions earlier in the year.

The Trump administration has also taken unprecedented steps to enforce deportations. In February, a US military aircraft deported 104 Indian nationals to Amritsar, marking the first time a military plane was used for such an operation. While Indian citizens have previously been deported, the use of a military aircraft was described as an exceptional measure.

US visa policies have also become significantly more restrictive. In September, President Trump approved a $100,000 fee for the H-1B skilled worker visa, which allows professionals such as engineers, scientists and IT specialists to work in the United States. The decision sparked concern in India, where thousands of families depend on employment opportunities linked to the program.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs warned that the steep increase in visa fees could have serious humanitarian consequences. Major Indian industry body NASSCOM also raised concerns about the implementation timeline, calling it disruptive for businesses and professionals.

According to a senior US State Department official, nearly 80,000 non-immigrant visas have been cancelled since January 20. Of these, approximately 16,000 were linked to driving under the influence, 12,000 to violent offenses and 8,000 to theft-related charges.

Additionally, more than 6,000 student visas were revoked in August for overstaying and legal violations, with a small number of cases involving alleged support for extremist activities. US authorities say these measures reflect a zero-tolerance policy toward crime and immigration abuse.
