Peshawar(The COW News Digital)A major security incident unfolded in Peshawar on Monday morning when terrorists launched an attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters located near Sunehri Masjid Road. The assault, which occurred at approximately 8:10 AM, has triggered a heavy security response and widespread concern in the provincial capital.
CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed confirmed the attack, stating that soon after the first reports surfaced, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the surrounding area. Sunehri Masjid Road was immediately closed for traffic, and vehicles were diverted toward Saddar Road in order to secure the zone and facilitate the movement of emergency services.

Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, while speaking to Geo News, revealed that two suicide explosions were carried out inside the FC Headquarters. The nature of the blasts and the identity of the attackers are still being investigated, while security officials continue to assess the extent of damage and casualties.
Local residents reported hearing continuous gunfire coming from the direction of the FC compound. The persistent firing created panic in nearby residential and commercial areas, prompting people to take shelter in their homes and shops. Witnesses also stated that the sound of the explosions was powerful enough to shake windows in the vicinity.
In response, security forces launched an immediate counteroperation. Heavily armed police units, elite force personnel, and rescue teams rushed to the scene. Ambulances were deployed around the perimeter as authorities anticipated potential casualties. The area has since been sealed, with strict restrictions placed on civilian movement as security personnel work to neutralize any remaining threats.
The attack comes amid heightened security alerts across the province, where law enforcement agencies have been on edge due to a recent surge in militant activities. While no group has claimed responsibility so far, investigators are examining the possibility of involvement by known terrorist networks active in the region.
