Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, while speaking to Geo News, revealed that two suicide explosions were carried out inside the FC Headquarters. The nature of the blasts and the identity of the attackers are still being investigated, while security officials continue to assess the extent of damage and casualties.
Local residents reported hearing continuous gunfire coming from the direction of the FC compound. The persistent firing created panic in nearby residential and commercial areas, prompting people to take shelter in their homes and shops. Witnesses also stated that the sound of the explosions was powerful enough to shake windows in the vicinity.
In response, security forces launched an immediate counteroperation. Heavily armed police units, elite force personnel, and rescue teams rushed to the scene. Ambulances were deployed around the perimeter as authorities anticipated potential casualties. The area has since been sealed, with strict restrictions placed on civilian movement as security personnel work to neutralize any remaining threats.
The attack comes amid heightened security alerts across the province, where law enforcement agencies have been on edge due to a recent surge in militant activities. While no group has claimed responsibility so far, investigators are examining the possibility of involvement by known terrorist networks active in the region.
Officials say a full damage assessment and casualty report will be released once the situation is fully brought under control. Meanwhile, citizens have been advised to avoid the area until security forces complete their operations.
The incident has once again underscored the fragile security environment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prompting renewed calls for stronger counterterrorism measures and intelligence coordination.
