National ( The cow news digital ) In a significant development in an ongoing narcotics investigation, two Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials have been taken into custody over allegations of maintaining contact with an accused individual known as “Anmol alias Pinky,” according to official sources in Karachi.
Authorities stated that the detained officials include Assistant Sub-Inspector Kafeel and constable Ali, both of whom were posted at the CTD Civil Lines office. The case is linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged drug trafficking activities involving the suspect identified as Anmol alias Pinky.
CTD sources revealed that the officials were questioned earlier in the day after being summoned to the office. During interrogation, they were allegedly unable to provide satisfactory responses regarding their suspected communication with the accused. As a result, both officers were taken into custody for further investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that ASI Kafeel had previously arrested a rider associated with Pinky a few years ago, which reportedly became the initial point of contact between the officer and the suspect network. Investigators claim that communication channels were later expanded through the involvement of his colleague, constable Ali, who is also now under scrutiny.
Officials further stated that both personnel are being investigated for allegedly providing support or facilitating indirect contact with the accused during the course of the investigation. However, authorities have not yet confirmed any formal charges against the detained officers, and inquiries are ongoing.
In a parallel development, Sindh authorities have also suspended District Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ali Hassan following directives from the provincial home ministry. The suspension is reportedly linked to administrative oversight concerns related to the same case.
Meanwhile, the main suspect, Anmol alias Pinky, has been handed over to police on a three-day physical remand after being presented before a judicial magistrate in Karachi South. The accused is already facing multiple cases registered at Darakhshan and Gizri police stations, in addition to prior cases involving murder and narcotics recovery charges, for which she remains in custody under remand until May 22.
Investigators say the case is expanding as new links and alleged connections within law enforcement are being examined. Authorities have indicated that further arrests or disciplinary actions cannot be ruled out as the probe continues.
