World ( The cow news digital ) North Korea has strongly criticized NATO’s recent calls for nuclear disarmament, arguing that any effort to eliminate nuclear weapons should begin with the United States and its allied nations.
According to North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused NATO of expanding its military alliance, increasing defense spending, and strengthening nuclear capabilities while demanding that Pyongyang abandon its own nuclear program.
The ministry claimed that the latest NATO summit demonstrated the alliance’s continued focus on military confrontation rather than peace and stability. North Korea said that countries genuinely seeking global nuclear disarmament should first address the nuclear capabilities maintained by the United States and its partners.
In its statement, Pyongyang argued that Western nations have spent years pressuring North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons unilaterally, but such efforts have failed. The government maintained that nuclear disarmament discussions should involve all nuclear-armed states and not focus solely on North Korea.
North Korea also criticized the US nuclear-sharing arrangements with its allies, claiming that American nuclear weapons stationed abroad and expanded military cooperation in regions such as Asia represent a double standard in global security policies.
The statement accused Washington of providing advanced weapons to its allies, conducting expanded military exercises, and increasing its military presence around the world. Pyongyang said these actions undermine calls for North Korea to end its nuclear and missile programs.
The criticism came shortly after North Korean state media reported that leader Kim Jong Un had ordered further strengthening of the country’s nuclear forces and defense capabilities. Kim reportedly emphasized improving military technology and maintaining progress in missile and nuclear development programs.
North Korea has long argued that its nuclear arsenal serves as a deterrent against perceived threats from the United States and its allies. Meanwhile, the US, South Korea, Japan, and other partners have repeatedly called on Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear weapons program and return to diplomatic negotiations.
