Abu Dhabi( The COW News Digital) Bangladesh continued their winning momentum in the Asia Cup 2025 with a dominant seven-wicket victory over Hong Kong in the tournament’s third match, successfully chasing a target of 144 runs with ease.

Electing to field first after winning the toss, Bangladesh restricted Hong Kong to 143 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Hong Kong’s top order tried to put up a fight, with opener Nizakat Khan scoring a solid 42 off 38 balls. Zeeshan Ali added 30 runs, while skipper Yasim Murtaza contributed a handy 28. However, Bangladesh bowlers kept the pressure on, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Rishad Hossain, and Taskin Ahmed each taking two wickets to dismantle the Hong Kong batting lineup.

In reply, Bangladesh’s chase was steady and well-paced. Skipper Liton Das led from the front, playing a captain’s knock of 59 runs that included classy boundaries and smart running between the wickets. Parvez Hossain Emon scored 19, while Tanzid Hasan added 14 before both fell. Towhid Hridoy played a crucial role in the middle order, remaining unbeaten on 35 and guiding the team to victory in the 18th over alongside Zakir Ali, who stayed not out on zero but held his end firmly.

Hong Kong’s bowlers tried to defend the modest total but could not break key partnerships. Ateeq Iqbal was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets, while Ayush Shukla claimed one scalp.

This comprehensive win gives Bangladesh an early boost in the points table and strengthens their chances of qualifying for the Super Four stage. Liton Das, with his match-winning half-century, was declared Player of the Match for anchoring the chase and ensuring there were no hiccups.

Cricket analysts praised Bangladesh’s clinical performance, especially their balanced approach with both bat and ball. The win also showcased the team’s growing confidence under Liton Das’s leadership.

With this result, Hong Kong will now face an uphill battle in their remaining group-stage matches if they hope to stay alive in the tournament. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will look to carry this momentum forward as they prepare for their next big clash against a stronger opponent.
