KARACHI ( The COW News Digital) Pakistan’s star spinner Abrar Ahmed has entered a new chapter in life as he tied the knot in Karachi over the weekend. The 27-year-old cricketer’s wedding festivities were held in a local hall, where he was welcomed with dhol beats as family and friends celebrated the joyous occasion.
According to details, the wedding ceremony took place on Saturday night with close relatives and family members in attendance. Abrar Ahmed married Amna Raheem, joining one of cricket’s most popular names to a new innings off the field. The cricketer’s walima (reception) will be held on Sunday at a banquet hall in Karachi, where several of his fellow players are also expected to join the celebrations.
Abrar, the youngest of eight siblings, will return to national duties soon after the wedding. Following his reception, he is set to rejoin Pakistan’s Test squad for the upcoming home series against South Africa, where he is expected to play a pivotal role.
The Karachi-based cricketer originally hails from Mansehra. He has represented multiple franchises in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), including Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and more recently, Quetta Gladiators. Known for his mystery spin, Abrar rose to prominence during the 2022 Test series against England in Multan, where he stunned the cricketing world by dismissing 11 English batsmen in his debut Test match.
Since then, he has become an important figure in Pakistan’s bowling attack. In his 10-Test career so far, Abrar has taken 46 wickets. He has also claimed 18 wickets in 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 21 wickets in 15 T20 Internationals, making him a key all-format player. His sharp variations and ability to outfox batters have earned him the reputation of being Pakistan’s “mystery spinner.”
As he embarks on married life, cricket fans are wishing Abrar success both on and off the field. Many supporters took to social media to congratulate the young spinner, who has become a household name in a short span of time.
With his wedding festivities marking a personal milestone, Abrar’s professional focus will quickly shift back to cricket, as he carries Pakistan’s hopes in the highly anticipated Test series against South Africa.
