TEHRAN (The COW News Digital) Iranian Security Chief Mohsen Rezaei has signaled Tehran’s readiness to mediate a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, while simultaneously cautioning that Iran is evaluating a potential exit from the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) based on future U.S. actions.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Rezaei emphasized that Iran sincerely seeks an end to the prolonged conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He affirmed that if both parties formally request Tehran’s assistance, Iran stands fully prepared to facilitate dialogue and help achieve a lasting regional peace agreement.
Addressing Iran’s strategic defense posture, Rezaei disclosed that high-level deliberations are underway regarding whether Tehran should withdraw from the NPT framework. He stated that any final determination on the matter remains directly contingent on the diplomatic and military stance adopted by the United States moving forward.
Rezaei clarified that Iran currently maintains its adherence to the religious decree issued by the late leader Ali Khamenei prohibiting nuclear weapons. However, he noted that future developments would depend on evolving geopolitical dynamics, making it premature to predict subsequent policy shifts.
The security chief’s statements arrive amid persistent tensions between Tehran, Washington, and regional states, as the international community monitors both the security environment in the Arabian Peninsula and the future of regional nuclear diplomacy.
