TEHRAN (The COW News Digital) Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned the United States that American oil and gas interests operating in the region could face retaliation if Iranian assets are targeted.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Ghalibaf said US energy companies and facilities located in regional waters could become vulnerable if Washington attacks Iranian assets. He stressed that Tehran would respond if its interests or facilities came under attack.
Ghalibaf further claimed that Iran had already demonstrated its ability to respond to attacks against its interests. However, he did not disclose the locations of the bases he referred to or provide specific details regarding their current operational status.
The warning came shortly after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly threatened that Washington could take action against Iranian oil tankers if attacks on American naval vessels continued.
