BISHKEK (The COW News Digital)Pakistan will assume the presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State for the 2026–2027 term, following the signing of the official summit declaration in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally signed the summit declaration alongside other regional leaders during the signing ceremony at the SCO Heads of State Council meeting. The declaration confirms Islamabad’s upcoming tenure at the helm of the Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance.
On the sidelines of the summit, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a bilateral meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, both diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the growing strategic partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, agreeing to expand cooperation across trade, transit, and regional security domains.
