World ( The cow news digital ) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has made headlines in the world of sports after his Knight Riders Group achieved a historic milestone by establishing an international-standard cricket stadium in the United States, marking a significant step in the global expansion of cricket.
The newly built stadium in Los Angeles has officially hosted its first-ever Major League Cricket (MLC) match, featuring a contest between Los Angeles Knight Riders and Washington Freedom. The development is being seen as a landmark moment for cricket in North America, where the sport continues to gain popularity among diverse communities.
The Knight Riders Cricket Ground has been designed as more than just a sporting venue. Developers describe it as a permanent cricket hub in Los Angeles, aimed at promoting the sport at both professional and grassroots levels. The facility meets International Cricket Council (ICC) standards and includes a modern main square with eight dedicated pitches, advanced drainage systems, and professional-grade outfield specifications.
One of the standout features of the stadium is its lighting infrastructure, which includes six floodlight towers standing approximately 120 feet tall, enabling high-quality day-night matches. Construction of the venue required the movement of more than 32,000 metric tons of soil, reflecting the scale and ambition of the project.
Shah Rukh Khan expressed pride over the achievement, saying that a dream envisioned years ago has now become a reality. He emphasized that the goal of the project goes beyond hosting matches, aiming instead to create a space where sport, entertainment, families, and communities can come together.
Venky Mysore, CEO of Knight Riders Sports, described the stadium as a key part of the group’s global strategy. He noted that modern infrastructure plays a crucial role in expanding cricket’s reach and ensuring its long-term growth in emerging markets.
