WASHINGTON — US Senator Chris Van Hollen has launched a sharp critique against President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, demanding an immediate end to the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Taking to the social media platform X, Senator Van Hollen condemned the administration for neglecting the needs and struggles of American service members and their families, asserting that the current war is failing to make the United States any safer.

The Senator specifically highlighted growing concerns regarding the mental health and well-being of crew members aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. According to Van Hollen, the vessel has been deployed at sea for nearly nine months, keeping military personnel away from their homes and families for an extended period.

Van Hollen sharply criticized President Trump’s handling of the psychological stress faced by these troops, stating that American military personnel and their families deserve far better treatment. He argued that the most effective way to protect service members is to halt the conflict with Iran entirely, prioritizing troop welfare over prolonged warfare.

Meanwhile, the US Navy has moved to address the strain by dispatching the USS George Washington to relieve the USS Abraham Lincoln in the region. The George Washington recently departed from the port of Da Nang in Vietnam as preparations underway for the carrier rotation.

Senator Van Hollen’s stern rebuke is expected to further intensify domestic debate across the United States regarding the human and strategic costs of the Iran conflict, military overstretch, and the welfare of deployed troops.
