Karachi — (The Cow new digital) Senior Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari has expressed regret over recent controversial remarks made by veteran actor Firdous Jamal, stating that while she respects him deeply, no artist has the right to speak negatively about fellow performers.
In a recent vlog, Bushra Ansari addressed the issue and said that the entertainment industry is filled with hardworking and talented individuals, and it is unnecessary to issue statements that undermine or criticize others without constructive reason. She emphasized that such comments do not reflect the reality of the industry.
The actress further stated that most actors in the industry are not weak in their craft, and therefore generalised negative remarks about colleagues are neither justified nor appropriate. According to her, respect within the artistic community is essential, especially when discussing the work and legacy of senior figures.
Bushra Ansari also advised Firdous Jamal to be mindful of his mindset and emotional well-being, suggesting that a negative attitude not only affects others but can also have an impact on one’s own family, including children.
Her reaction comes after Firdous Jamal made controversial statements during a podcast, where he commented on several late legendary actors including Talat Hussain, Shafi Muhammad, Rahat Kazmi, and Khayyam Sarhadi. He also criticized the acting abilities of the late Abid Ali, stating that some of them, in his view, did not possess strong acting skills.
These remarks sparked strong backlash on social media, with users and several figures from the entertainment industry condemning the statements, particularly because they were directed at deceased artists who are no longer able to respond.
The debate has reignited discussions within the Pakistani entertainment industry about professional respect, freedom of expression, and the responsibility of senior actors when commenting on colleagues’ work and legacy.
While opinions remain divided, many industry observers believe that such controversies highlight the need for more balanced and respectful discourse within the artistic community.
