Islamabad(The COW News Digital)Pakistan has firmly denied reports circulating on social media suggesting that it is playing a mediatory role between the United States and Iran, calling such claims unfounded and misleading.

Responding to media queries, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi clarified that no official statements or initiatives regarding mediation efforts have been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that various reports attributing diplomatic efforts to Pakistan, particularly those citing unnamed or unofficial sources, are inaccurate and do not reflect the country’s official stance.

In recent days, several social media posts and unofficial reports have claimed that Pakistan had stepped in to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Tehran amid rising tensions in the region. However, the spokesperson categorically rejected these assertions, stating that they are based on speculation rather than verified information.

Andrabi further expressed concern over the misrepresentation of a recent Foreign Office briefing, noting that certain narratives being circulated were neither discussed nor hinted at during the official interaction. He stressed that such distortions can lead to confusion and potentially harm diplomatic efforts at a sensitive time.

Highlighting the importance of responsible journalism, the Foreign Office urged media organizations and digital platforms to avoid spreading unverified information. Andrabi advised journalists and analysts to rely strictly on official statements and verified briefings to ensure accurate reporting.

The spokesperson also warned that the spread of unconfirmed news could further complicate an already delicate regional situation. With tensions between the United States and Iran continuing to draw international attention, he noted that misinformation could undermine efforts aimed at maintaining stability.

Pakistan, he reiterated, remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region through principled diplomacy, but any claims regarding specific mediation roles must be verified through official channels.

The statement comes at a time when geopolitical developments in the Middle East are being closely monitored, and any suggestion of third-party involvement carries significant diplomatic implications.

Authorities have called for restraint and responsibility in both reporting and public discourse, underscoring the need for accuracy in matters that could influence international relations.
