World ( The cow news digital ) A special investigative team has launched a formal inquiry into the arrest and court presentation of a highly wanted female suspect in an alleged drug trafficking case in Karachi.
According to police officials, the investigation was ordered by the Karachi Police Chief after concerns were raised over possible procedural violations during the handling of the suspect, identified as Anam alias Pinky.
The inquiry team has begun recording statements from suspended Station House Officer (SHO), Sub-Inspector (SI), and members of the police party involved in the operation. Officials will also examine why the suspect was presented in court in a manner that may have violated standard legal procedures.
Investigators are specifically reviewing whether the suspect was presented without handcuffs or facial covering, and whether proper protocol was followed during her transfer and court appearance. Authorities say these factors are central to determining compliance with police rules and procedures.
As part of the investigation, CCTV footage from the Garden Police Station in Karachi is being collected and reviewed. Officials aim to establish how the suspect was treated while in custody and whether any irregular conduct occurred inside the police station.
The inquiry will also assess the behavior of officers and staff toward the detainee and determine whether any negligence or breach of duty contributed to procedural lapses.
Senior police officials confirmed that a special team was initially formed under the supervision of SSP South Mazhar Ali. However, the inquiry has since been reassigned, and DIG West Irfan Ali Baloch has been appointed as the new investigating officer.
Authorities have directed the inquiry officer to submit a detailed report within three days. Additional IG Azad Khan has issued formal orders confirming the new appointment and emphasizing the urgency of the investigation.
The case continues to draw attention within law enforcement circles as officials review potential lapses in procedure and accountability in the handling of high-profile arrests.
