National ( The cow news digital ) Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence to discuss the country’s prevailing political and economic situation and to deliberate on a possible future course of action.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the “Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan” opposition alliance, the two leaders held detailed discussions on a range of national issues, including rising inflation, the increase in petroleum prices, and the deteriorating security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting also focused on broader concerns regarding governance, regional instability, and the need for a unified opposition stance on key national challenges. Both leaders reportedly agreed on the importance of developing a coordinated political strategy to address public grievances and strengthen democratic institutions.

During the discussion, they emphasized the need for collective efforts to resolve economic hardships faced by the public, particularly amid rising inflationary pressures and economic uncertainty. The conversation also included concerns about law and order conditions in different parts of the country.

Speaking earlier to journalists, Mahmood Khan Achakzai stressed that meaningful change in the country would only be possible if Parliament is empowered as the supreme institution. He argued that without parliamentary sovereignty and provincial control over resources, public hardships and instability would continue.

He further noted that daily loss of life due to violence and security incidents reflects a serious national crisis that requires urgent attention. He urged policymakers to prioritize peace, institutional reform, and constitutional supremacy.

Achakzai also warned that undermining constitutional arrangements, particularly those established under the 18th Amendment, could create further instability. He emphasized that these agreements were achieved through broad political consensus and must be preserved.

He added that opposition parties are working on a coordinated strategy to challenge the government on budgetary and economic issues in the upcoming political cycle.

The meeting signals continued efforts by opposition leaders to consolidate their positions and develop a unified response to Pakistan’s ongoing political and economic challenges.
