National ( The cow news digital ) Pakistan is observing the 27th death anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, the celebrated hero of the 1999 Kargil conflict, with national tributes from political and military leadership highlighting his courage and sacrifice.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and the country’s armed forces paid rich tribute to the fallen officer, acknowledging his extraordinary bravery and unwavering commitment to defending the homeland under extremely difficult battlefield conditions.
In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed’s valor remains a shining chapter in Pakistan’s military history. He noted that his courage in the face of overwhelming odds stands as a testament to the highest traditions of loyalty, patriotism, and sacrifice for the nation.
He further emphasized that the defense of the country is a sacred duty, and the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs continue to ensure national sovereignty and peace. The prime minister said that such heroes will always be remembered as symbols of national pride and resilience.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also issued a statement recalling the heroics of Captain Karnal Sher Khan during the Kargil War. According to the military’s media wing, he demonstrated exceptional leadership, fearlessness, and determination while holding forward positions against enemy forces in harsh terrain and extreme conditions.
ISPR highlighted that he fought at the frontline with unwavering resolve and ultimately embraced martyrdom while defending Pakistan’s territorial integrity. His actions are regarded as an enduring example of courage within the Pakistan Army’s proud traditions.
Senior military leadership, including the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, also paid tribute, recognizing his service and sacrifice as a lasting inspiration for the armed forces.
