World ( The cow news digital ) The Punjab government says it has completed 1,129 road projects within 75 days, describing the achievement as a new benchmark for infrastructure development and public service delivery across the province.

The progress was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, where officials from the Communications and Works Department presented updates on ongoing development projects, road sector investments, and the utilization of allocated funds.

According to the official briefing, the roads were completed under the “Sohna Pind, Sohniyan Rahwan” initiative at a reported cost of Rs30 billion. The projects cover approximately 1,795 kilometers of road network and form part of the government’s broader infrastructure development strategy.

Officials informed the meeting that between April and July this year, nearly 6,000 kilometers of roads were constructed or rehabilitated across Punjab. Under the Local Roads Programme, 1,567 development schemes worth Rs79 billion were approved, covering around 3,400 kilometers of roads. Of these, 1,129 schemes have already been completed.

The government also stated that 99 percent of the allocated development budget had been utilized, while road rehabilitation projects generated savings of approximately Rs11 billion through efficient execution. Officials credited field teams working in three shifts for completing projects ahead of schedule.

Several major road schemes were also highlighted during the meeting. Authorities confirmed the completion of the 93.5-kilometer Multan-Vehari Dual Road, the 24-kilometer Faisalabad-Chiniot Dual Road, and the 13-kilometer Tourism Highway Dual Road. In addition, officials said all 124 roads damaged by previous floods have now been fully restored.

The chief minister also approved the establishment of six modern service areas under the Punjab Ring Road Authority. According to officials, the facilities are expected to generate annual revenue of around Rs500 million once operational. Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities to complete the service areas by December and continue upgrading the Ring Road to international standards.

Looking ahead, the meeting approved the inclusion of 42 new road schemes in the next fiscal year’s development programme. The government also allocated Rs51 billion for new road construction alongside additional funding for local road projects and related infrastructure.

The Punjab government says the expanded road network is intended to improve connectivity, support economic activity, and facilitate safer and more efficient transportation across the province.
