MUZAFFARABAD(The COW News Digital)Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Law Minister Mian Abdul Waheed has announced that a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq will be tabled within a week. The development marks a major escalation in the ongoing political turmoil in the region’s legislative assembly.

Speaking to Geo News, Minister Abdul Waheed said the delay in bringing forward the motion was due to consultations among key political stakeholders aimed at forming a consensus on the new government’s structure. “The procedural aspects have been finalized,” he confirmed. “The motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister will be submitted within the next seven days.”

According to political insiders, members loyal to former AJK president Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry have joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), increasing the party’s strength in the Legislative Assembly to 27 members. This shift has significantly altered the balance of power, placing PPP in a strong position to challenge the incumbent government.

Sources further revealed that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will make the final decision on when and how the no-confidence motion will be formally introduced. Party leaders have reportedly been in close communication with allied members to ensure that the required majority is secured before the motion is presented.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PPP had earlier agreed to jointly move the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq. However, the PML-N leadership has decided not to participate in government formation. According to party sources, PML-N will remain in the opposition benches once the motion succeeds, allowing PPP to form the next government if it secures the necessary votes.

This internal political reshuffle comes amid growing criticism of the AJK government over administrative inefficiency and governance issues. Observers believe the looming no-confidence motion could reshape the political landscape of the region, especially as alliances shift and new power blocs emerge within the assembly.

If successful, the motion would remove Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, who has faced mounting pressure from opposition parties over his handling of legislative affairs and coordination with the federal government.

Political analysts suggest that the coming week will be decisive for AJK’s future, as both PPP and PML-N maneuver for strategic advantage in a rapidly evolving political environment.
