RAWALPINDI – The management of Adiala Jail has submitted a detailed report to the Islamabad High Court, strongly rejecting claims that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is being kept in solitary confinement following his conviction in the £190 million corruption case.
According to the official report filed by the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, the former prime minister is not undergoing solitary confinement. Instead, he is housed in a dedicated high-security compound comprising seven interconnected cells. The jail authorities stated that Khan is allowed unhindered movement within this secure compound from morning unlock until evening lockup.
The report emphasized that specialized security arrangements have been implemented exclusively to protect the former premier by preventing general inmates from accessing his residential area.
Clarifying facilities provided under prison rules, the administration detailed that Khan is granted routine meetings with his wife, Bushra Bibi, every Tuesday. Furthermore, a dedicated medical team performs health checks and tests his meals three times daily, while an assigned inmate prepares custom dishes based on Khan’s preferred menu. The report noted that the inmate has continuous access to open air, natural sunlight, and exercise facilities.
Dismissing allegations previously raised by Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, as groundless, the jail superintendent formally requested the Islamabad High Court to dismiss the petition regarding illegal detention conditions.
