KP Sacrificed 80,000 Lives in War on Terror: CM

National ( The cow news digital ) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that the province has suffered immense losses in the fight against terrorism, claiming that around 80,000 lives were sacrificed during the prolonged conflict.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a newly developed park in Peshawar, the chief minister said the project was completed within a record period of three months, describing it as a reflection of the provincial government’s performance and commitment to development.

Sohail Afridi said that before 2013, Peshawar faced severe security challenges and the city had witnessed difficult conditions. He added that development projects initiated by the government had contributed to improving the overall situation and transforming the city.

The chief minister highlighted the sacrifices made by the people of Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the war against terrorism. He also appreciated the role of provincial residents in hosting internally displaced persons (IDPs) during periods of unrest.

He said that despite facing major challenges and losses, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa never raised anti-state slogans. However, he claimed that terrorism was once again being imposed on the province, creating new security concerns.

Talking about financial issues, Sohail Afridi referred to the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not receiving its complete financial share. He claimed that the province was facing an annual shortfall of around Rs420 billion due to delayed payments.

The chief minister said that development programmes were being introduced according to the vision of the party founder and claimed that the current year’s development package was the largest in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He challenged other provinces to present a development programme comparable to the one announced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the provincial government was focused on improving public facilities and infrastructure.

Sohail Afridi further claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had secured a third consecutive electoral victory in Peshawar, while criticizing the Punjab government for allegedly neglecting development in southern Punjab.

He assured that the provincial government would continue working for the progress and welfare of all areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
