Man Arrested for Aerial Firing Near Punjab Minister’s Car

National ( The cow news digital ) A young man has been arrested for allegedly opening fire near the vehicle of Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, in Lahore’s Defence area, police officials said.

According to police, the incident occurred late at night within the jurisdiction of Defence A Police Station. The suspect, who was traveling in a car, allegedly overtook the minister’s vehicle and fired several shots into the air before moving away.

Authorities said the suspect was taken into custody along with the weapon allegedly used in the incident. Police have also impounded the vehicle involved in the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police officials said the suspect was traced and arrested with the assistance of Safe City Authority surveillance systems and modern technology. Further legal proceedings have been initiated, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the firing.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar provided details of the incident, stating that he was traveling with his family when the vehicle approached from the left side and crossed his car. He said the individual inside the vehicle fired five shots during the incident.

The minister added that he followed the vehicle and informed officials at a nearby checkpoint, which helped authorities take action against the suspect.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a detailed investigation to determine the motive behind the firing and whether the suspect had any specific intention or connection to the minister.

Aerial firing is considered a serious security violation in Pakistan, with police frequently warning citizens against the illegal use of firearms in public areas due to the risks it poses to public safety.

The incident has raised security concerns, particularly as it involved a federal government official and occurred in a major residential area of Lahore. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken according to the law after completion of the investigation.
